The first quarter of 2024 showcased intriguing trends among the top film & television applications on the Android platform in the United Arab Emirates. According to data from Sensor Tower, these apps exhibited varying degrees of success in terms of weekly downloads, revenue, and active users.

MX Player from MX Media & Entertainment Pte Ltd experienced notable fluctuations in its weekly downloads, starting the quarter with approximately 19.3K downloads and seeing a dip to around 10.8K in mid-February, before rebounding to 13.6K by the end of March. The app's weekly revenue saw a minor peak at $9 in the final week of March. Active users remained relatively stable, with a slight increase from 391K in early February to 433K by the end of the month.

Disney+ maintained a strong presence in the UAE market. Weekly revenue peaked at around $27.5K in late January, and although there were minor fluctuations, it consistently stayed above $19K. Downloads showed a significant increase towards the end of the quarter, rising from 7.6K in late January to 14.9K in mid-March. Active users also saw a notable rise, growing from 142K in mid-February to 183K by mid-March.

Viu: Dramas, TV Shows & Movies demonstrated a steady growth trajectory. Weekly revenue gradually increased, peaking at $1.3K in the last week of March. Downloads saw a notable peak of 12.4K in mid-March, and active users climbed from 52K in mid-February to 66K by March 11.

Yango Play showed a mixed performance. Downloads spiked at 16.1K in mid-February but gradually declined to 4.6K by the end of March. Revenue remained negligible, with only slight increases in early March. Active users, however, grew significantly, peaking at 66.7K in mid-March.

Netflix maintained a consistent download rate, ranging between 5K to 6.4K throughout the quarter. Active users saw a slight decline, starting at 151K in early January and dropping to 123K by the end of March.
